Beliefs

Your beliefs are very powerful and have the power to create or to destroy your life. In most cases, whatever you believe, is what you will become. If you believe that you are loser, that you never get a break in life, that you cannot accomplish anything, these things will be your reality. Believe that you are unlimited, that you can do anything you commit to doing, and when you do, your accomplishment will know no bounds.

You control your beliefs, and that it how you ultimately control your life. This is a very important point. So how do you develop beliefs that will empower you?

Many of our beliefs come from our environment, the world we live in on a daily basis. If your environment is limiting your beliefs, then work very hard on changing it. If you are constantly around people who are negative and limiting, find other people to hang out with. Get around positive, successful people.

Beliefs also come from past experience. That is why it is so important to experience success on a regular basis. Set small, achievable goals, and then try your best to reach them. “I will finish this project by early afternoon.” “I will make six calls on the phone the next hour.” “I will exercise 20 minutes tonight.” When you start to experience success, then start to believe in success, and that leads to more and bigger successes.

Beliefs come from knowledge. The more you learn, the more things you will know to be possible. Always take advantage of opportunities to learn something new. It will bring new possibilities into your beliefs and your life.

Most importantly, you can develop new beliefs by setting and visualizing goals for your life. Define your goals clearly and with precision. Then, in your mind, see yourself achieving them in all of their sensory details. Mentally live the experience, see the sights, hear the sounds, sell the aroma, feel the feelings. You nurtured beliefs will lead you to their reality.

Friendship

Friendship

The word, friend, covers a wide range of meanings. It can be a nodding acquaintance, a comrade, a confidant, a partner, a playmate, an intimate colleague, etc. Everyone need friendship. No one can sail the ocean of life single-handed. We need help from, and also give help to, others. Everyone needs friends. If you fail to make friends, you should examine yourself and see if there is something wrong with your personality. Maybe you have social faults such as snobbishness, talkativeness, using slang, etc. which drive away new acquaintances. Whatever your social faults may be, look at them honestly, and make real effort to correct them. To be friendly you must feel friendly. Cheerfulness is the basis of friendliness. A cheerful person smiles. A smile is a magnet which draws people. Smile at someone and you are sure to get a smile in return. A friendly person does his best to make a stranger feel at home, wherever he happens to be. Put yourself in the other fellow’s place and make him fell welcome. Try to remember names. It makes your new acquaintance feel happy when you call him by his name. it gives him the feeling that he has made an impression on you and that must mean something to him because you remember him. If you don’t agree with other people on a certain matter, you should appear to be friendly. Do not argue, but discuss. You always lose friends if you argue too much. A friendly person thinks of others and does not insist on his own “right”. People who refuse to consider others have few friends. Finally, don’t treat people according to their social positions. Really friendly people respect everyone at all times. I have friends in high positions and friends in the rank and file. Some are rich and in power. Some are relatively poor and without power. Some are like myself, working as a teacher, reading and writing, content with a simple life. We care for each other, love and help each other. We feel we are happiest when we chat and exchange ideas with one another. With my friends, I know what to treasure, what to tolerate and what to share.

Study Abroad

Study Abroad

In Chinese education, students learn through memorization. The teacher is the king and what he says is always the truth. In American education, however, much emphasis is placed on problem solving and discussion. There is very little emphasis on memorizing information. Students are taught to think for themselves. The role of the teacher is to stimulate their thinking: to get them to ask questions, challenge and even argue with the teacher and come to their own conclusions. And that’s why all the Chinese students are good at reciting. And for English, Chinese students are good at remembering English words and grammar but they cannot speak English well. And my friend John told me about his unforgettable study experience overseas.

John came to an English-speaking country to improve his English. He had studied the language for five years in his own country and he could understand written English quite well. What he needed above all was practice in conversation.

He was enrolled at a school for foreign students, and the school found him a home with a local family. The family was pleasant and friendly. He was delighted to discover that there was a pretty daughter, only a year or so younger than he was. That first night, as he was getting ready for bed, he was filled with optimism.

A few days later, however, when his class teacher, Mr. Price, asked him how he was getting along, he had to admit that he felt a little disappointed. “By Sunday,” said John, “I’ll have been here for two weeks, but I’ve had very little opportunity to practice conversation.”

“Aren’t you living with a local family?” asked Mr. Price.

“Yes, I am,” replied John, but they are always busy.”

“Aren’t there any young people in the family?”

“Yeah, there’s a daughter of 17, but she leaves home at eight o’clock in the morning, and she spends every evening with her friends.”(15)

You’re Awesome

You’re Awesome

Consider…YOU, in all time before now and in all time to come, there has never been and will never be anyone just like you. You are unique in the entire history and future of the universe. Wow! Stop and think about that. You’re better than anyone of a million, or a billion, or a gazillion…

You are the only one like you in a sea of infinity!

You’re amazing! You’re awesome! And by the way, TAG, you’re it. As amazing and awesome as you already are, you can be even more so. Beautiful young people are the whimsy of nature, but beautiful old people are true works of art. But you don’t become “beautiful” just by virtue of the aging process.

Real beauty comes from learning, growing, and loving in the ways of life. That is the Art of Life. You can learn slowly, and sometimes painfully, by just waiting for life to happen to you. Or you can choose to accelerate your growth and intentionally devour life and all it offers. You are the artist that paints your future with the brush of today.

Paint a Masterpiece.

God gives every bird its food, but he doesn’t throw it into its nest. Wherever you want to go, whatever you want to do, it’s truly up to you.
